Pre-Assessment Questionnaires-

Depending upon the agreed assessment, you will be sent Online pre-assessment questionnaires to complete prior to your appointment for specialist diagnostic assessment. There will also be an online form for someone who knows you well (preferably since childhood) to provide us information. For child assessment, we will also be requesting information from the school.

Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment-

You will receive a one-on-one in-depth video consultation with one of Psych2Gether’s experienced Consultant Psychiatrists. For neurodevelopmental disorder assessment in children, the evaluation will be conducted jointly by a Consultant Psychiatrist and a Clinical Psychologist, using gold-standard psychometric scales to understand your mental health needs and provide feedback with guidance for a personalized treatment plan.

Psychiatric Report-

A full confidential psychiatric report will be sent to you within two weeks, with a copy also sent to your GP. It will include all assessment details as discussed in the interview, as well as the results from the pre-assessment questionnaires along with the outcomes. Additionally, it will provide information about treatment options that can be offered by Psych2Gether.

Post Diagnostic Management and Support-

Psych2Gether understands that a long consultation can feel overwhelming, and you may still have questions. We encourage you to contact us if needed. We offer a free 15-minute follow-up session with one of our senior medical practitioners or clinical psychologists and can arrange further consultations for medication, psychological therapy, or other specialists from our experienced team.

We have designed easy 5 steps process

1. Book Free 15min Consultation – If you think you might have autism, try our free autism screener. Book a free 15-minute video call with a medical practitioner or psychologist to discuss your mental health, suitability forassessment, and to tailor the next steps to your needs.

2. Pre-Assessment Questionnaires- Before your specialist diagnostic appointment, you’ll get online pre-assessment questionnaires to complete, plus an online informant form for someone who knows you well (ideally since childhood).

3. Comprehensive Diagnostic Assessment- Psych2Gether offers a joint assessment from Consultant Psychiatrist and Expert Clinical Psychologist for adult Autism assessments. This multidisciplinary approach ensures every diagnosis meets NICE clinical guidelines.

It will be conducted in 3 sessions.

● Session 1 — Consultant Psychiatrist (1 Hour): Reviews medical and psychiatric history, current challenges, social functioning, and pre- assessment questionnaires. Checks if symptoms might be explained by other conditions (e.g., ADHD, anxiety).

● Session 2 — Clinical Psychologist (1 Hour): Detailed assessment of autistic traits using interviews and standard tools to understand lifelong patterns in social skills, communication, routines, and behaviour. We use a standardised diagnostic interview called the ACIA (Autism Clinical Interview for Adults).

● Session 3 — MDT discussion and feedback (30 minutes): The psychiatrist and psychologist review the questionnaires completed by you and your informant, review the interviews completed and agree on findings. The psychiatrist gives feedback, explains the decision, outlines treatment/support options if diagnosed, and answers any questions.

4. Diagnostic Report- You will receive a confidential diagnostic report within two weeks, with a copy sent to your GP. It will include assessment details, pre-assessment questionnaire results and outcomes, plus information on treatment options offered by Psych2Gether.

5. Post Diagnostic Management and Support- We know long consultations can feel overwhelming. We provide a free 15-minute follow-up with a senior clinician to address any questions. Based on your assessment, we can also arrange appointments for medication review, psychological therapy, or other specialist input.

OUR FAQs

Yes. Many people are diagnosed in adulthood. Psych2Gether offer Adult Autism assessment to adults over the age of 18 years who may think have Autism and are struggling with social interaction, communication, sensory processing, and/or rigid patterns
of thinking or behaviour since childhood. You can self-refer and no GP referral is required.

Autistic adults have higher rates of anxiety, depression and ADHD. Mental health problems may stem from sensory overload, social stress, executive functioning difficulties, or masking. Psych2Gether offers autism-aware mental health support and can coordinate care
for co-occurring conditions.

A complete assessment and feedback is done over 3 separate sessions at your convenient time. Assessment is conducted by Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist following NICE and NHS guidelines for autism assessments. During this session, over typical assessment includes clinical interviews, a developmental history (with family input), observation, questionnaires and, where needed, cognitive or psychiatric assessments to rule out other conditions.

Many adults find diagnosis validating. It can improve understanding of needs, access to reasonable adjustments, targeted supports and peer networks.

Assessment process starts within 24hrs of contacting us. Once we have received all pre-assessment questionnaires a comprehensive diagnostic assessment will be booked within two weeks’ time with a consultant psychiatrist.

Our report is comprehensive and from a suitably qualified, registered Consultant psychiatrist and clinical psychologist, following NICE and NHS guidelines, cites DSM‑5/ICD criteria, details assessment tools used, and includes clear recommendations.

No medication is needed to ‘treat’ autism, but, medication may be recommended and prescribed for co-occurring conditions (e.g., anxiety, depression, ADHD) when clinically indicated.
