About Our Adult Autism Assessments
Psych2Gether provides thorough, gold-standard Adult Autism (ASD) assessments delivered jointly by a consultant psychiatrist and clinical psychologist — all online, following NICE and NHS guidelines. We use internationally validated tools including the ADOS-2, ADI-R, and AQ-10. Our assessments are medico-legally robust and widely accepted by the NHS, employers, universities, and local authorities.
Can I be diagnosed with autism as an adult?▼
Yes. Many people are diagnosed in adulthood. Psych2Gether offers Adult Autism assessments to adults over the age of 18 who think they may have Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). A formal diagnosis can provide clarity, validation, and access to the right support.
How does autism interact with mental health?▼
Autistic adults have higher rates of anxiety, depression, and ADHD. Mental health problems may stem from sensory overload, social stress, executive functioning difficulties, or years of 'masking'. An accurate diagnosis enables targeted, autism-informed support.
What happens during an assessment?▼
A complete Adult Autism assessment and feedback is delivered across three sessions at times convenient to you. The assessment is conducted jointly by a consultant psychiatrist and a clinical psychologist, using gold-standard tools including ADOS-2, ADI-R, AQ-10, and structured clinical interview.
Is getting a diagnosis helpful in adulthood?▼
Many adults find diagnosis validating. It can improve understanding of your own needs, provide access to reasonable adjustments at work or education, open doors to targeted supports and peer networks, and help make sense of lifelong experiences.
How quickly can I be assessed?▼
The assessment process starts within 24 hours of contacting us. Once we have received all pre-assessment questionnaires, a comprehensive diagnostic assessment appointment will be arranged at the earliest convenience.
Can I pay for my assessment in instalments?▼
Psych2Gether provides the option of paying in interest-free easy instalments. Please refer to our Fees/Payment page for more information on payment options available to you.
Will a private autism diagnosis be accepted by the NHS?▼
Our report is comprehensive and produced by a suitably qualified, registered Consultant Psychiatrist and Clinical Psychologist, following NICE and NHS guidelines. It is widely accepted by NHS services, employers, universities, and local authorities.
What support does Psych2Gether offer after diagnosis?▼
We provide post-diagnostic guidance, psychoeducation, autism-informed therapies (e.g., CBT adapted for autistic adults), occupational therapy, and liaison with relevant services. Our goal is to ensure you have a clear pathway forward after your diagnosis.
Are there medications for autism?▼
No medication is needed to 'treat' autism itself, but medication may be recommended and prescribed for co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, or ADHD. This would be discussed and managed by our consultant psychiatrist where clinically appropriate.
What if I disagree with an assessment or diagnosis?▼
Please discuss any concerns with the assessing clinician. You may request further assessment, additional information, or a second opinion. Additional fees may apply for further clinical work.
How can I get more information or speak to someone?▼
Contact our reception team by phone or email for bookings, fees, appointment availability, or any other queries. We are available Monday – Saturday, 9am–6pm, and aim to respond to all enquiries within 1 business day.
